HALO® Electronics Opens New Manufacturing Plant in Vietnam

Santa Clara, California (November 25th, 2025) – HALO Electronics is pleased to announce the opening of our new manufacturing facility in Vietnam. This plant is our first outside of China and represents a significant step forward in supporting our customers’ supply-chain risk management initiatives.

Production is scheduled to begin in December 2025, immediately following the UL audit and recognition, which is expected by December 10th. Initial output will focus on a select group of popular standard part numbers. Additional products will be added over time based on customer demand.

While manufacturing costs in Vietnam are higher than at our two facilities in China-and customer pricing will reflect this difference-the impact is expected to be offset by lower U.S. tariffs on Vietnam-built products compared to those manufactured in China.

To help customers manage pricing and clearly specify their preferred manufacturing location, HALO is introducing a simple part number suFix for Vietnam-built products. Adding a space and the number “2” to any standard HALO part number will designate production in the Vietnam plant.

HALO ® Announces A New Series Of 1W and 2W Miniature SMD Unregulated DC/DC Converters

Santa Clara, California (August 7th, 2024) – HALO Electronics, Inc, a leading supplier of Ethernet and power Transformers, today announced the release of a new series of low-cost miniature 1-watt and 2-watt SMD DC/DC converters. Initially HALO will offer single output devices with input and output voltages ranging from 3.3V to 12V. Isolation voltages of 1.5KV and 3KV with functional insulation will be available in the 1-watt version. All modules include continuous short circuit protection.

The single output series is designed in an industry standard 5-pin package with dimensions of 0.504” (12.8mm) x 0.410” (10.44mm) x 0.285” (7.25mm) providing a drop-in replacement to common industry standard 5-pin packages. Samples of the single output series are available now with volume production in September 2024.

The product line will be expanded shortly after the initial release to include input and output voltages up to 24VDC. As well the dual output voltage series will be available in the second phase of the product release with samples ready in Q4 2024. The entire series utilizes UL94V-0 materials and meets the requirements of UL62368. The series will be UL recognized to UL62368 shortly after the release of the second phase.

2.5GBASE-T1 Isolation Transformers for Single Pair High Speed Ethernet

HALO® ANNOUNCES THE FIRST IEEE802.3 COMPLIANT 2.5GBASE-T1 ISOLATION TRANSFORMERS FOR SINGLE PAIR HIGH SPEED ETHERNET APPLICATIONS

Santa Clara, California (January 18, 2022) – HALO Electronics, Inc, a leading supplier of
Ethernet Transformers, today announced the preliminary release of the industry’s first commercially available IEEE802.3ch compliant 2.5GBASE-T1 transformers, providing galvanic isolation for those applications requiring a higher level of isolation.

Utilizing the UWBX patent pending technology HALO® has been able to achieve the high-speed performance needed to meet Insertion Loss and Return Loss required for a fully compliant 2.5GBASE-T1 Ethernet port over single pair copper cables. This UL recognized product provides 1.5KV isolation and is available for evaluation under non-disclosure agreement (NDA)effective immediately.

One of the many benefits of this galvanic isolation transformer is the improved system level CMR performance, the result of the PHY side Center Tap (CT) connecting to ground, which should prove to be valuable in critical high noise applications, such as Automotive and Aerospace applications. This part can be used in data only applications or PoE applications.When used in PoE applications blocking capacitors will be added to the cable side of the circuit while still providing the improved CMR performance through the PHY side CT.

End of Life (EOL) Notification ROHS 5 Products

July 30th, 2021

For several years, HALO has indicated that our ROHS 5 products would be discontinued. We have encouraged all customers to make the change from ROHS 5 (with tin lead on the leads and in the internal solder joints) to our ROHS 6 compliant parts, with suffix RL, LF or NL. It is now time for this change to occur, as we can no longer support the small quantities still being purchased by a few customers.

This EOL is applicable to all discrete transformers, CMR chokes, and FastJacksTM. Products with prefix, TD, TG, LCC, LD, LG, HFJ, MD, MG, MST that do not have a RL, LF or NL suffix will be discontinued. In all cases we can offer drop in replacement parts that are ROHS 6 compliant, either in Lead Free (preferred), or ROHS 6 compliant relying on exemption 7a (not recommended due to the likely expiration of exemption 7a in the not too distant future). There is no change to the mechanical or electrical specifications nor to the UL safety status, when changing to our ROHS 6 compliant products.

Customers may place last time buys for 90 days, until October 30, 2021 with shipments scheduled out to October 30th, 2022.

Other products, such as our discrete inductors, including products with prefix LS, HDC, HDS and HPC, the HCJ pass through connectors, as well as our Pro-Tek5TM products, with prefix PT, are already Lead Free and this EOL does not impact these products.

HALO’s China Factory Coronavirus Updates

Tuesday, April 7th, 2020

Our manufacturing facilities in Zhongshan and Debao China have seen a steady increase in our workforce returning after the Corona Virus related plant closures. These locations are now at approximately 80% capacity. As well, our critical raw material vendors have now reopened their plants and are increasing their capacity as quickly as possible. The situation remains fluid as we are now dealing with the virus’s effect on the Global business environment, but we are confident that we will continual improvement in the coming weeks.

The HALO sales personnel are now working from home, following the Shelter-In-Place (SIP) State and Federal Orders. Essential functions required to continue providing our critical services to our customers, and support our employees working from home, are being performed following the Social Distancing Protocols.

As part of HALO’s ownership stake, HALO will have exclusive use of this patent pending technology with manufacturing at HALO’s UL and IATF recognized global production facilities.
